About the Ranch

We live symbiotically with the native land.

Owl Moon Ranch is a family-owned and operated ranch tucked between the Mendocino Range and the Mayacamas Mountains, ninety minutes north of San Francisco up Highway 101. Close enough to escape for a day, far enough to get properly lost in nature.

Grab a coffee in adorable Hopland, population 340, the gateway to Mendocino County, and sample wines from more than thirty local wineries on your way in. Cap your vacation with a return home through Anderson Valley, Yorkville Highlands, Sanel Valley and McDowell Valley.

Nestled in the center of Wine Country majesty and steeped in agriculture, Owl Moon Ranch is a gateway to nature.

  • We don't use pesticides.
  • We embrace the local flora and fauna.
  • We steward the land for future generations.
  • We build community and open the door to sustainable farming.

The Orchard

No monoculture here.

Every row tells a different story. We tend the orchard the old way, a scattered, mixed planting rather than a single crop, so the land keeps its balance and the harvest keeps its character.

Some of our apples are heirlooms whose original names have long since been lost to time. We're still learning what they're called, one harvest at a time.

Water & Stewardship

Just let it rain.

Water is life for ranches and farming, especially in drought-stricken California. We work with our natural springs and rain accumulation to farm within our means, and to respect the water table we all share.
